HP To Stop Making Digital Cameras
Hewlett-Packard announced yesterday that it will stop manufacturing its own digital cameras, preferring to focus instead on Print 2.0 growth. The company announced that it would continue to sell its own cameras through the holiday season, but it working to find an OEM partner “that would be licensed to design, source and distribute digital cameras under the HP brand.” It plans to have a new arrangement in place during the first half on next year. HP seems to see its future in Print 2.0, a strategy it announced in May. The aims behind it are to make printing from web sites easier, to extended HP’s digital content creation, and increase print speed and lower costs for commercial markets. The company also plans to push its home photo printing and online photo services, as well as its retail photo-finishing business.
